The Law Offices of Russell W. Fergusson, PLLC was founded in 2011. We strive to provide our clients with exceptional legal services  at a competitive price while developing and maintaining the trust, respect, and friendship with our clients. These relationships enable more effective representation and distinguish our services from other legal service providers.

Our practice areas include business law and certain personal matters. In all matters, we help our clients to develop strategies and make intelligent decisions by contrasting potential outcomes with the associated costs.

Our business law practice includes the formation of business entities, preparing ownership agreements, commercial leases, zoning and local government matters, employment law, administrative law, business transactions and general contract negotiation and drafting. We recognize that legal planning and business planning are interconnected and we make every effort to share with our clients the benefit of our general knowledge and experience. We strive to address issues of cost at the outset of a project or litigation matter, so that you can decide if it is worth pursuing and to what extent. We know that our success depends on your success and we hope to be an asset to your business for years to come.

Our personal matters practice areas include estate planning, non-compete matters debtor-creditor issues, and general contract negotiations.

Our practice no longer includes a litigation practice. However, we have experience with litigation matters and frequently assist our clients in negotiations and if necessary obtaining and managing litigation counsel.

Russell W. Fergusson


Raised in Charlotte, NC, Russell W. Fergusson studied economics, finance and biology at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC, where he competed on the Soccer and Rugby teams. After college Russell worked for local, state and national political campaigns in Charlotte and surrounding areas.

At North Carolina Central University School of Law, Russell graduated Summa Cum Laude. Throughout his studies, he participated in diverse activities as a member of the Trial Team, a senior editor of the NCCU Law Journal and Vice President of the Student Bar Association. During this time, Russell gained experience at the Charlotte Public Defender’s Office, The North Carolina Attorney General’s Office, the North Carolina Court of Appeals and The Center for Responsible Lending in Washington D.C.

Prior to forming his own firm in 2011, Russell practiced law as an associate at a small Charlotte law firm with a diverse range of practice areas. Growing up on the east side of Charlotte he has remained an active member of the community including serving a term as the President of the Plaza Midwood Merchants Association where he currently remains a board member and Land-Use Committee Chair.

Russell, his wife and daughter enjoy living in Charlotte, where they maintain a serious vegetable garden (the Fergusson Farm) and enjoy the great neighbors, local businesses and diverse culture of Charlotte’s east side neighborhoods.
